You need a bit of support and guidance, and you will be ready to explore the sea with your friends. Our freediving instructors will guide you step by step until you become more confident underwater and learn the basics of freediving.
The Discover Freediving course on Koh Tao splits into three blocks: theory, a pool session, and a snorkelling/shallow freediving trip.
The Koh Tao Discover Freediving course is a one-day course with a flexible schedule. Therefore, you can easily fit this course into your island holiday itinerary.
We keep group sizes small for convenience, with a maximum of two students per freediving instructor.
09:00-10:00 Theory Session
Here, you will learn what to do and what not to do while holding your breath. Your Instructor will introduce you to different relaxation and safety techniques. You’ll discover that freediving is simpler than it appears.
10:30-12:00 Pool Session
In this session, you will learn how to use the equipment for snorkelling and freediving, such as long fins, a mask, and a snorkel. Additionally, you will learn how to hold your breath in a relaxed and safe manner, as well as swim underwater with long fins.
On the Discover Freediving course your instrucor understand that you might feel uncomfortable while holding your breath for the first time, and they will help you feel more at ease using a personal approach to each student.
14:00-15:30 Snorkelling Trip
Depending on weather conditions, we will choose one of Koh Tao’s shallow bays for the snorkelling session. Your instructor will lead you in the sea using a freediving float, which also works as a visual marker for passing boats. At the same time, you can use it to rest and keep your belongings inside.
You don’t have to pass any requirements during the Discover Freediving course. So, relax and have fun in the water.
To enroll in a Discover Freediving course, you must be 12 years or older. In addition, you need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.
